Rokurokubi ろくろ首

This project was made from my fascination with Japanese urban legends, specifically the Rokurokubi. I wanted to blend horror storytelling and cultural exploration with a twist.

It’s also partly a uni project for college- and for learning Japanese, so while the language might not be perfect (still learning), this game is a piece of that process blending fear, and folklore.

Nestled at the edge of a fading town, Yomi Hill High School (黄泉坂高校) has long been known for its academic excellence… and its silence.

Behind its pristine hallways and honor roll plaques lie locked doors, missing records, and rumors whispered too quietly to be remembered. Students speak of vanishing classmates, strange noises in the west wing, and a presence that watches when no one's around.

Ren Takahashi, an ordinary high school student, was only supposed to retrieve a file from the west wing storage room. But when he steps into the dim premises, a chilling presence begins to stalk him from the shadows.

Soon, he discovers a missing poster — a girl named Aiko Hanabira, top of her class, gone. Her older sister, Sora, reaches out for help… and Ren, caught in something far beyond reality, chooses to answer.

Unravel the unsettling secrets of an abandoned file, a forgotten student, and a haunted school overtaken by a Rokurokubi — a long-necked yokai that stretches across dimensions of memory and fear.

Explore the boundaries of reality, piece together a buried past, and survive the school that never truly lets go.
